Trees aren’t very good at getting out of the way, so they’ve adapted to simply swallow things when it becomes necessary.
Trees Swallowing ThingsAbout thirty years ago in Cambre, a small village in the northwest of Spain what started as displaying of sign on trees to indicate a taxi stand was nearby, now these very signs have become a part of the trees.
Another sign which became part of the tree.
It appears this oak tree is eating this piece of a boat.
This tree seems to swallow the temple.
Here is another one of those where the sign is eaten by the tree, one other thing to be noted is what’ s written on this sign.
Now you got a lights grown right into the tree & what you just need to do is plug them in & you got a live tree.
Now this bike seems to be here from a very long time & if ever the owner of the motorcycle comes back, he will be in for a surprise.
This washbasin seems to be getting a lending hand from the tree.

Lets hope the motorcycle guy brings a chainsaw, either way I will be having nightmares about trees eating me.

These clear examples show that mother nature is truly a powerful force. She will make sure that her children will adapt in someway.
April 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
sry, but this is SOOO much crap, u can see where pieces of the trees have been cut out and put in again with the stuff they are suppost to have “eaten”
April 8th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Well I guess it’s natures own way of saying keep putting that shit on me and I’m going to eat it.
April 10th, 2008 at 3:18 am
Wow this is pretty amazing, i wonder how long that bike sat there??? Someone has had to keep it partially clean and free of rust.
But none the less a fantastic display of natures supremacy lol

The one of the temple is actually lianna (vines). I think. It’s pretty common in the jungle for these crazy parasitic vines to take over a tree (or a temple) and enclose it completely (it kills the tree eventually).

Sorry to say Ragnarh, but I grew up on a farm with forests and woodlands nearby, and I’ve actually seen this happening.
April 16th, 2008 at 4:11 am
Wow that’s amazing how the trees just ate up all those things
April 16th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
Ok Ragnarh… you aren’t the brightest in the bunch are you? They look “cut out” because the obstructions to the tree’s growth causes its bark to look warped.

It’s not uncommon around Alberta and BC to see the occasional skull in a tree because some poor sap (no pun intended) hot his antlers stuck in a tree, and hasn’t left for many years afterwards! I even saw one guy at the Calgary stampede who looked for these instances, and cut them out to sell them as art.

It’s so cool-seeing nature taking revenge on us!
April 17th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
This is not crap. I’ve seen it a millon times. When a sign is on a tree for a long time, the tree “eats” it (actually it’s just asimilation) dont be paranoic
April 18th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
What does the sign say? I can only make out the word “Forbidden”

April 22nd, 2008 at 1:14 am
OMG if someone were to of cut the tree then put the sign in, how do you explain the one where the boat was partially eaten??
April 22nd, 2008 at 4:43 pm
You do not sound profound or eloquent. They’re sweet pictures; you’re a fool.
April 23rd, 2008 at 9:26 pm
RagnarH,
It is not crap. Trees really do grow around things <<
I’ve also seen it happen… though it takes quite a while.
I like how the trees swallowed those lights, too. It looks pretty that way.
April 25th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
I have seen many trees like these over the years! Trees are living creatures, they simply adapt to their surroundings just like any other intelligent being!
RagnarH is a moron!

I put some deer antlers in the fork of a tree about 4 years ago, and now they just poke out of the tree looking all weird. I just forgot I put them there one day. I found it about six months ago, thought it was neat.

Hello webmasterEvery other blog I have read about Ugliest Dog, has been lacking in information. Your insight into Ugliest Dog is sooooo much better than anything else I have read. Thanks Megan.

Any of you that don’t believe these pics are real should come see the tree on my grandpa’s property that is “eating” an old cotton picker he hasn’t used in 20 years. Also, if you’ve ever been on a farm it’s nothing unusual to see a tree with a wire fence that is running through the center of it. The tree isn’t actually eating it, it just grows around it.

I think we all can make the assumption from these pictures that contrary to popular culture’s assertions, trees are not our friends.

It never seems to amaze me how stupid people can be…
Trees got to eat too…
May 21st, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Must take a long time to be eaten.
June 27th, 2008 at 12:33 am
There’s a regular bicycle that got eaten by a tree on Vashon Island in Washington, USA. There was even a kid’s book written about it called “Red Ranger Came Calling.” It’s pretty cool.

IF A GODDAMN TREE TOUCHES ANY OF MY STUFF, I WILL LIGHT IT ON FIRE. FUCK TREES.

I can’t believe no one has said this…
OM NOM NOM NOM!
But seriously folks. There’s a few trees at the Pacific Science Center, where I work as an usher, that are starting to eat some electrical fixtures attatched to them.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:23 am
I wonder what it looks like when you plug the lights in on that tree? (assuming they still work, of course.)
